Session Description: Fieldwork is a cornerstone of agronomic and environmental research. It often requires a broad range of skills, from planning and logistics to electronics and analysis. It requires a student or early career researcher to adapt and apply lessons learned in the classroom or laboratory to ‘real world’ settings. This can sometimes present a sharp learning curve, but also an opportunity for teamwork, adventure and lateral thinking. This symposium presents insights on planning, technology and skills in field research, followed by open discussion on the challenges and opportunities in this area.
