Session Description: This symposium will focus on organic agriculture and how management systems can be designed to promote agricultural productivity as well as resilience to extreme weather events, which have already increased in frequency and are projected to become more problematic as a result of climate change. The symposium will highlight results from long-term cropping system experiments, practical approaches for enhancing biodiversity, and insights from European researchers who are working on climate change adaptation and mitigation in organic agriculture. Solutions to climate change challenges and opportunities within organic agriculture to reduce greenhouse gases will be discussed.
