Session Description: Discoveries in Soil Chemistry have benefited human health by enhancing food nutrition and remediation of contaminants in urban and other soils. Soil chemical-based discoveries are being deployed and adopted in urban and other communities and agricultural practices, including (1) using inexpensive soil amendments to reduce contaminant bioavailability and human exposure in urban and other communities and (2) agricultural practices that improve public health through improvements in human nutrition. This session highlights soil chemical research to improve human health. Emphasis will be placed on soil chemical research that has been or will be adopted to improve the human condition.
