Session Description: Soil chemical processes combine with plant and fungi processes and influence the transport of contaminants to the rhizosphere, where they can be taken up by plants. These processes are relevant for both trace contaminant uptake by plants and phytoremediation of high concentrations of contaminants in the soil-water system. We seek papers that focus on these plant-contaminant interactions in both laboratory and field investigations that utilize conventional and advanced spectroscopic techniques to illuminate the dynamic chemistry of the rhizosphere and to understand localization of contaminants in plants.
