Session Description: Maintaining soil health is important to subtropical regions. Cover crop practices can help farmers and ranchers to improve soil health and to help combat natural and anthropogenic environmental challenges (including climate change). Their beneficial effects depend on the selection of appropriate cover crops and their management practices. Hence, understanding their agronomy, physiology, biogeochemical process, and nutrient cycling in soils is fundamental for their use in sustainable cropping systems. This session can be useful in improving production of these crops and, consequently, their incorporation in farming systems, wherever it is possible.
