Session Description: This is an introduction to Python, designed for participants with no Python programming experience! We will start the day with basic information about Python syntax, the Jupyter notebook interface, and move through how to import CSV files, using the pandas package to work with data frames, how to calculate summary information from a data frame, and a brief introduction to plotting. This is a hands-on workshop inspired by Data Carpentry Lessons. Participants are encouraged to use their own laptop computer to ensure the proper setup of tools for an efficient workflow. The workshop content assumes no prior knowledge of the skills or tools that will be presented. The workshop requires a working copy of Python 3 (which is open source and instructions for install will be provided to registrants at least two weeks prior to workshop date). Participants should make sure to install all components prior to start of workshop.
