Session Description: Wildfires are becoming increasingly frequent and severe in a broad range of ecosystem types as well as in areas of wildland-urban interface around the globe. Fires can affect soil quality by causing direct (immediate) and indirect (delayed) effects on the biological, chemical, and physical properties of soil. This session will include studies investigating effects of wildfire and prescribed fire on soil properties, dynamics, and functions. Study sites may include natural to urban areas across the full range of management intensities and post-fire time frames.
