Session Description: In this workshop, attendees will learn how to process and analyze Illumina amplicon sequences using R. We will start by filtering and trimming the sequences, training the DADA2 model, identifying amplicon sequence variants (ASVs), assigning taxonomy, building a phylogenetic tree, and then making a phyloseq object. From there, we will go over basic sequence analysis including alpha- and beta-diversity, canonical correspondence analyses, and differential abundance. Most of the workshop will be tutorial based, with some discussion and lecture materials mixed in. By the end of the workshop, you will have learned how to filter, process, and analyze amplicon sequencing data. Attendees will be asked to bring and work on their own laptops (either Mac or PC). Prior to the workshop, attendees would be asked to download some files from the instructor’s GitHub.
