Developing extension programming and areas of emphasis are the keys to successful extension education.  Collecting this information from the clientele directly can be a very useful in developing target educational programs.  However, this type of data collection can also be misleading and difficult to sort through.  Additionally, quantifying the impact of these programs can be critical to determining the success of extension education and whether programming in these areas needs to continue.   A Texas wheat extension case study regarding these topics will be presented and will focus on the pitfalls and advantages of using survey information to develop extension programming.
