218 Symposium--Managing Denitrification in Agronomic Systems to Reduce Nitrate Loss: Methods, Unknowns, and Limits to Adoption

ASA Section: Environmental Quality This symposium will cover the range of methods that have and can be applied to reduce nitrate losses from agronomic fields through denitrification, including wetlands, bioreactors, riparian buffer strips, and managed drainage. Speakers will summarize what is known, what further research is needed, and what the current limits are to wide spread adoption. The goal of the symposium is to get a range of perspectives about where the current state of knowledge is across the methods that have been used to manage denitrification to reduce nitrate losses from fields, as well as how these methods could be more widely adopted.
