Students as Consultants.

As part of a traditional course students act as consultants to farmers in return for class credit.  Teams of students interview a selected local farmer, determine problem areas, research options and present a proposal to the farmer.  The farmer ranks the presentations and written proposals to determine their grades.  This assignment generates intense student interest through team competition and exposes students to a real-life agricultural problem.
