Cotton cultivars have unique fruiting habits, which play a significant role in the adaptations of cultivars to different regions of the cotton belt. DP555, the dominant cultivar in Georgia from 2003-2010, produces fruit later than other contemporary cultivars. Other commercial cultivars were compared with DP555 for fruit distribution. None of the cultivars exhibit a similar fruiting pattern, but some of the cultivars show different adaptations that may result in similar yield and yield stability. These adaptations are discussed.
