Forage Tour.

Tours Enjoy a scenic trip through the horse country of Kentucky. Our first stop will be a short visit to the C. Oran Little Research Center to view grazing and forage research conducted by the University of Kentucky and USDA-ARS. This 1500-acre farm is part of the University of Kentucky Agricultural Research Station and has facilities for beef, swine, and sheep research. The highlight of the morning will be a visit to Three Chimneys Horse Farm home of Big Brown and Smarty Jones. Grooms will bring out some of the stallions for public viewing and a tour leader will be available to make presentations and answer questions. After lunch, we will visit the Woodford Reserve Distillery and learn about the process of distilling hand-crafted Kentucky bourbon. The distillery is hidden away in the heart of Kentucky bluegrass country. Woodford Reserve is the oldest and smallest working bourbon distillery, with a very rich and interesting history - it is registered as a National Historic Landmark. Box lunches will be provided and lunch will be held at an outdoor picnic shelter nearby in Midway, KY. Registrants with special dietary needs should contact Michael Casler, Division C6 Chair, prior to 1 October.
