Abstract:
Virgil's Georgics narrates the relations of human beings and nature, of farmers and farmland, of people and soil.  The poem speaks as forcefully today as when it was written and read aloud to Emporer Caesar Augustus.  We describe why and how we bring the Georgics to our soils classrooms and we nominate Virgil as Poet Laureate of the Anthropocene.
