Abstract:
Currently information about soil series with the classification system of Soil Taxonomy are maintained in text files and separate pedon data. We propose to develop a database for soil series information that is searchable and links current text and pedon datasets. This would allow for queries on the current system and for improved quantification and assessment of soil series information. The database would represent an important component of the broader ongoing effort to make fundamental changes to Soil Taxonomy to make the system more user-friendly.
