Abstract:
By using a collaborative approach, students from three regional universities experienced a different view of the region around them.  In the summer of 2016, a field course in soil health was offered by Arkansas State University, Southeast Missouri State University, and University of Tennessee-Martin.  Students participated in an intensive field course with a learning community focused on the complexity of agroecosystems.  Field visits and learner activities revolved around soil health.  Students and faculty completed regular evaluations of the farm visits, the learning community, and the experiences of the course.  The end result of this course was to identify strengths and challenges from each university involved and continued collaboration of the faculty members.
