Abstract:
The UWRF Crops and Soils Club is planning an event for October 7th, 2017 with the goal of donating to the River Falls Community Food Pantry (RFCFP). As an officer team, we have decided to host a community dinner entitled “Sharing the Harvest” at the Grow to Share Gardens in River Falls. Grow to Share is a non-profit organization that collaborates with local community gardens and food pantries in the area with the common goal to ensure that everyone has access to fresh and locally grown food. As students in agriculture, we have similar goals to help fight hunger in our local communities and throughout the world. By collaborating with these organizations, we can give hope to the less fortunate one donation at a time. Our event will include a dinner, silent auction, pumpkin carving, and live music. The food served and silent auction items will be donated or purchased from local businesses. As a club, we hope that this event will encourage community gardening and bring people together to support the food pantry this harvest season.
