Abstract:
Potentially mineralizable nitrogen (PMN) is a popular soil health indicator that has been evaluated for its utility as an estimate of available N during the growing season. However, several factors play a role in determining the timing and amount of N mineralization in the soil, including temperature, moisture, and oxygen levels. Furthermore, methods for PMN measurement vary, contributing to difficulties in translating laboratory PMN values to actual field conditions.
