Abstract:

Join us to hear how farmers and consultants in the southeastern corner of Illinois are using soil testing, soil nitrogen testing, tissue testing and tile drainage monitoring to track where their applied fertilizers are going. Utilizing today’s technology growers can monitor efficiencies in how differing genetics respond to different practices and products. Using yield data analysis to verify crop uptake and making nutrient recommendations by soil type, soil nutrient load and soil physiology growers can greatly impact their Nutrient Use Efficiency.

Mike Wilson CCA 4RNMS, RMS will discuss his experiences using these tools to increase crop nutrient uptake and reduce Nitrogen and Phosphorus loss to the environment. Using the goals of the Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy as a guideline to maximize economic yield and improve water quality in the sensitive watersheds feeding into the Wabash River.
