Abstract:
The vast majority of consumers in the US have no ties to food production and little basic knowledge of how their food is produced, harvested, or stored. Misinformation abounds in the attempt to sway influence creating crippling regulations and sanctions targeting US producers. The responsibility of all land grant colleges is to educate and inform future policy makers, teachers, and journalists. An educated society is a society not easily fooled.
