Abstract:
With a growing demand and requirement for water quality improvements across the country, the nutrient management planning landscape is evolving from a voluntary best management practice to that of a regulatory requirement enforceable by local, state, and federal agencies. Additionally, lawsuits are being used as a tool to set judicial precedents that have national implications.

This session will cover different approaches to nutrient management policy and regulation and a panel discussion that will investigate where are we going in the future with laws and regulations, and what opportunities exist for researchers, agronomists, and farmers.

Panelists:
Amy Asmus, Asmus Farm Supply, Inc
Erika Larsen, EPA
Deanna Osmond, North Carolina State University
Heidi Peterson, International Plant Nutrition Institute
Amy Shober, University of Delaware
