Managing Global Resources for a Secure Future

2017 Annual Meeting | Oct. 22-25 | Tampa, FL

114 Approaching Peak Phosphorus and Seeking Alternatives: Linking Reuse, Speciation, and Availability Oral (includes student competition)

Oral Session
SSSA Division: Soil Chemistry
Mankind utilizes ever increasing P fertilizers, a finite resource derived solely from phosphate rocks; as a planet we are quickly approaching peak P utilization.  Alternative approaches such as P recovery and capture onto potential P fertilizer or technological developments enhancing P utilization are desperately needed.  This session aims to link advanced research methods on P speciation to better understand availability and showcase novel means of P recovery and reuse from soils and agricultural and industrial wastes.
