Student teaching farms have been established at higher education institutions in the US to provide students with hands-on, practical agricultural experience as well as other educational benefits. A national, online survey was conducted to examine the nature of teaching farms and their educational value. Farm managers and instructors who teach on the farm were asked what they teach and the educational benefits of teaching farms that they have observed. They were also asked how teaching farms are managed, integrated into educational programs, and supported. Survey results reveal a range of US higher education teaching farm models, educational benefits, and strategies to sustain them.
