Cattle can have a significant impact on soil physical and chemical properties. Cattle recycle a significant amount of nutrients through manure which can benefit the following crops. Grazing small grains ahead of summer crops results in a significant increase in rooting of both cotton and peanuts and results in significant increases in crop yield without irrigation and less with irrigation. This paper will discuss cattle grazing impacts on soils and following crops.
