Social media and computer technologies like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Podcasts, etc. continues to rapidly become a mainstream method of communication among a large percentage of the global population. A survey instrument was administered to > 200 students enrolled in Turfgrass Science programs nationally to determine their adoption and utilization of various contemporary social media programs/web-sites. As expected, a large percentage of students utilize social media as a method to regularly communicate with family, friends, and instructors with many regularly accessing social media using hand-held devices like mobile phones. The implications of these findings have a direct impact on current campus learning environments and provide both opportunities and challenges in the delivery of future course content.
