Planting Knowledge of Crops and Their Uses in Society- University of Missouri-Columbia Agronomy Club.

The University of Missouri Agronomy Club worked closely with the University of Missouri South Farm Agriculture Experimental Station to work in educating the public about Agriculture and Agricultural Research at the annual South Farm Showcase. The Mizzou Agronomy Club attracted people of all ages at the event with two main exhibits, one for youth and one for adults. For the youth, a matching game consisted of examples of seeds, plants and common household products made from the respective plants. For the adults, a Jeopardy-style game showcased common agricultural crops grown in Missouri and involved corn, soybean, wheat, sorghum and rice. This opportunity was eye opening for kids and adults alike, who then realized that corn was an ingredient in Coke® or that grain sorghum could be used for an alternative fuel. Mizzou’s Agronomy Club plans to expand their role in The South Farm Showcase in the future.
