Cooperation and interaction with the local communities around Platteville, Wisconsin is an emphasis for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville ASA-SWCS Agronomy Club. The UWP Agronomy Club hosts and helps out with many campus and community events from high school land judging contests to Internship Night. This was especially true (one fall evening) or (date last fall), when the UWP Agronomy Club helped present and educate young students at the Grant County Family Night in nearby Lancaster. This event was set up by (organizers) to promote agriculture education to our future prospects for the agronomy field. At the Grant County Family Night members intermingled with the kids and gave interactive demonstrations using cupcake candy corn planting, plant stages rooting stages, and soil horizonation (<-spelling?) cake. The young students were very interested in the hands-on demonstrations and were eager to participate as the (# of cupcakes) went fast. The Agronomy Club was appreciative of the Grant County Family Night and the organizers for giving us the opportunity to participate in their event.
