Symposium--Satellites Serving Agriculture and the Environment: Honoring the Achievements of Paul Doraiswamy

Oral Session

ASA Section: Climatology & Modeling

Paul Doraiswamy’s career as a Meteorologist with the USDA-ARS was highlighted with exceptional achievements in the application of remote sensing and modeling in providing practical solutions to agriculture. He has been recognized as a leading authority in the calibration and use of various satellite image data. He used remote sensing to explore the quantification of environmentally important factors, and was a science partner in many NASA research efforts. His untimely loss in 2010 has left a void in science that will be difficult to fill. This symposium will honor Paul through invited and volunteered presentations in the theme of his work.
