296Nitrogen-Use Efficiency, Nitrogen Leaching, and Nitrous Oxide Emissions As Influenced by Management Practices: II

Poster Session

S06 Soil & Water Management & Conservation

Nitrogen fertilizer has been increasingly used to increase crop yields in the last several decades. As a result, N leaching and N2O emissions (a potent greenhouse gas) also increased with increased N rates. For sustaining crop yields, reducing N fertilization rates, and improving environmental quality, novel management practices are needed to increase N-use efficiency and reduce N leaching and N2O emissions. This session will evaluate the effect of management practices, such as tillage, crop rotation, N fertilization, cover cropping, manure application, etc. on N-use efficiency, N leaching, and N2O emissions.
