Abstract:
Variable rate irrigation via center pivots is currently available in two methods: variable rate speed control, and variable rate zone control. This presentation will explain the two practices and the methods used to determine which practice is most optimal for each individual field. Practical applications and uses of the technology will be discussed along with examples of the flexibility of the technology to adapt for different field conditions and variables throughout the country. Field test results quanitifying the benefits of variable rate irrigation across different regions, crops and conditions will be demonstrated.
