  • Abstract:
For a thousand years the elite aristocracy of earliest China considered  their bronze ritual vessels to be their prized possesions. Yet, the history handed down to us about these bronzes contradicts the inscriptions that we find on the bronzes themselves. Who are we supposed to believe?

In this latest research on Chinese bronzes, I will demonstrate how satellite imagery not only confirms that the early ritual bronzes were horticultural maps, but I can clearly show that, using the scale combined with etymological evidence, we are able to calculate the probable production, the topography, the irrigation methods employed, and population supported.
