196 Symposium--Wireless Technologies and Innovations To Meet Food, Water, and Energy Challenges: I

Oral Session
ASA Section: Climatology & Modeling
The use of sensors, sensor systems and sensor networks to enable more effective water management in irrigated agriculture is one critical aspect of technologies and innovations needed to meet food, water, and energy challenges. A critical subset to this aspect is the integration of wireless sensors and wireless sensor networks into agricultural systems for decision support, large-scale field management, and equipment control. This symposium will focus on these topics with particular attention to wireless sensors and wireless sensor network systems optimized for outdoor settings. Presentations are welcome that address these needs or report on communication protocols, network topology, interface development environments, and data and power management.
