How many test locations are needed in my variety trials? This is a question all plant breeders and researchers who conduct variety trials must ask. This article presents a very simple forluma to estimate the optimum number of test locations needed in a crop variety trial system based on multilocation crop variety trial data, which can be used as a guide for future crop variety trials.
