The Texas A&M Agronomy Society worked in conjunction with Farmers Fight to host AgCulture Day this year. AgCulture Day is an event that aims to encourage agricultural education among children of all ages through hands-on demonstrations. Texas A&M Agronomy Society held a booth that educated the children on the nutrient and water uptake of plants and the importance of soil. Children were allowed to choose from a variety of plants including peas, squash, pumpkins, green beans, daisies, and maroon blue bonnets to plant in their very own individual take-home cups. The activity presented elementary students with the opportunity to learn the mechanisms behind how plants worked and why soil is vital through means of fun, active participation.
