Annual bluegrass is a troublesome weed in creeping bentgrass golf greens. Trees and shrubbery in the golf course landscape are essential sources of aesthetic beauty and promote the playability of golf courses.  However, trees and shrubs often cause intense shade and root competition and can reduce air circulation. Recently, methiozolin herbicide has been shown to effectively controlannual bluegrass population in creeping bentgrass golf greens. The objectives of this study were to (1) evaluate the efficacy of methiozolin for annual bluegrass control in creeping bentgrass golf greens in shade, and (2) evaluate the safety of methiozolin applied to creeping bengrass golf greens in shade. Methiozolin treated plots showed increased phytotoxicity and injury to creeping bentgrass in a shaded environment.
