Although some disadvantages of a flipped class have been reported, many laud the promise that it brings in enhancing student learning. This paper is about the experience of developing and delivering the Environmental Soil Science course in flipped format. Enrollment is comprised of students from the agriculture, natural science and engineering programs who have completed at least 90 credit hours of courses and all of whom have not taken a prior flipped class. This paper will share the promise and the challenges of flipping a senior-level soils course, the feedback from students and the lessons learned from the experience.
