Legume Conservation and Plant Breeding in Ecuador.

Sharing native germplasm between countries can be problematic for political reasons.  Using native germplasm in breeding programs in the host country where germplasm is contributed equally from each collaborator can result in progeny that can be shared. This approach has been used in breeding programs in Ecuador to improve local bean cultivars that have been shared beyond country boundaries.
