Soil Scientists have a unique ecologic perspective on the natural environment as a whole and complex, interrelated ecosystem. Thus, Soil Scientists are natural Interdisciplinary Team Coordinators and Managers due to the ability, through education and experience, to tie together the interaction of many interrelated scientific and professional disciplines. The roles and needs for Professional Soil Scientists in the ever expanding and increasingly complex world of environmental services, is growing, while the available reserve of those same professionals is dwindling. This presentation explores the opportunities, challenges, and successes of professional Soil Scientists in the Business of Environmental Consulting and demonstrates the need for increasing our recruitment and output of qualified Soil Scientists through our Educational System.
