In order to produce the best quality and yielding alfalfa, growers need to determine the nutrients needed by the plants to increase quality and growth. By sampling established fields, data with the levels of nutrients will become key to determining how to optimize growth and yield of a stand. Applying the right amount of the right nutrient will increase the quality and yield of the stand, as well as the overall health of the plants. In addition to utilizing nutrient application on alfalfa stands, growth regulators can also play an active role in the increase of yield in a stand. Different growth regulators can be used for different purposes such as quicker seed germination and cell expansion. With the use of the appropriate growth regulators and nutrient application, maximum yield and quality can be achieved.
