Sequencing capacities for higher throughput at significantly lower costs have enabled larger scale genotyping of plant genetic resources. One challenge to sequencing the USDA grain legume collections of pea, chickpea and lentil core accessions is the amount of heterogeneity in the landrace accessions. We have address this impediment to genotyping by establishing single-plant derived populations selected out of traditional core collections. Additional accessions were added including sequenced lines (if available for distribution), recombinant inbred line parents and additional crop wild relatives. The goal was to have single-plant populations of 384 accessions for each grain legume crop. The populations, geospatial characterization, phenotype and genotype summaries will be presented. These populations will serve as platforms for further high through-put genotyping and for association mapping studies for important agronomic traits in pea, lentil and chickpea.
