Many soils, including those in many upland forests, are composed of considerable fractions of gravel and large stones. As a result the, the appropriate representative elementary volume for such soils is bigger than most sample sused for characterization of unsaturated properties. Here we explore the influence of such stones on unsaturated hydraulic conductivitiy. The study involves numerical simulation in the presence of stones.
