Abstract:
The use of organic fertilizer to improve soil properties is a common practice in agriculture today, however, the need to regulate sensitive parameters for establishing their quality in terms of stability and maturity is a must between producers and farmers. The objective of present study was to evaluate the effect of 22 organic amendments between compost and vermicompost with different raw substrates and different origin (animal and vegetable), under growth of vegetable models (tomatoe and corn) as quality indicators and the enzyme activities determination (B-Glu, Acid Phosphatase, Deshydrogenase, Ammonia Monooxygenase (AMO) and Urease) as quality correlated with physical and chemical parameters stablish in the Colombia Regulatory Framework (NTC 5168/2011) which defined final use and organic product quality. It was found within the parameters evaluated, the urease, dehydrogenase, AMO activities as biochemical parameters and chlorophyll and substrate germination as growth parameters had been a good quality indicators in terms of stability and maturity since they are related to nutrient cycling, microbial activity and potential substances on plants with beneficial or deleterious effect. It was important that physical and chemical parameters which demonstrated effects on quality were Electrical Conductivity (EC) and pH and should be part of indicators to ensure quality of Colombian organic amendments.
