Abstract:
Laboratory time is a necessity for many soil science classes, but there are many factors that make it increasingly difficult to include this valuable learning time. In an effort to reduce instructor contact time and still maintain high quality course and laboratory offerings this study provides an analysis of the use of pre-lab video to tutorials. The videos are designed to replace the beginning of the lab period which often includes explanation and demonstration. The video which will be accessed by the student prior to lab includes an on-line quiz or activity with it in order to maintain student accountability. Initial results of the effectiveness of this method will be presented.
