162 Counting Carbon on the Farm: Science, Systems and Support Poster (includes student competition)

Poster Session
ASA Section: Environmental Quality
sequestration in soils and biomass.  GHG mitigation potential in the agriculture sector is receiving increased attention from policy makers and industry.  A major challenge is developing robust and practical measurement, monitoring and verification systems to quantify GHG reductions/C sequestration.  Such systems are key to support policies and incentives for producers to adopt practices that contribute to GHG mitigation, e.g., through governmental programs, participation in C offset projects or low-carbon food production.  The symposium will focus on research, development and applications of farm to project-scale systems to support GHG reductions from soils and land use systems.
