Abstract:
Corn row spacing and plant population are topics that continue to receive interest from farmers across Iowa. Since 2009, there have been 10 site-years of research trials done in western Iowa looking at the interaction of row spacing and plant populations. This dataset provides an opportunity to update recommendations given to farmers. The results from this data suggest that there is not a consistent yield advantage to 51-cm compared to 76-cm row spacing. In fact, row spacing is significantly influenced by growing season, hybrid, nitrogen rate, and plant population.
