249 Symposium--Evapotranspiration (ET) Under Pressure: Measuring and Modeling ET Under Drought and Deficit Conditions
Oral Session
ASA Section: Climatology and ModelingCrops are increasingly grown under deficit irrigation and drought-prone regions to conserve water, optimize crop quality, and use of new plant genetics for drought resistance to expand cultivation. Estimation and observation of evapotranspiration (ET) under drought and deficit irrigation management practices are crucial to assessing crop productivity, scheduling irrigation, and to assess groundwater recharge. ET estimation under drought and deficit is challenging due to difficulty in parameterizing water stress. This session welcomes observations and modeling studies of ET under drought and deficit conditions, with a particular emphasize on studies that seek to combine modeling and observation efforts under stressed conditions.
