Managing Global Resources for a Secure Future

2017 Annual Meeting | Oct. 22-25 | Tampa, FL

68 Sustainable Intensification in Integrated Crop-Livestock Systems

Oral Session
ASA Section: Environmental Quality
The session will cover topics related to grazing and farming systems in which crops and livestock are intentionally integrated to improve productivity outcomes. Papers will broadly address methods for assessing trade-offs between productivity, environmental pollution, biological diversity, in addition to other metrics increasingly used in evaluating sustainable intensification. Session presenters and discussants will present ideas and approaches for how trade-offs can beĀ reconciledĀ in on-farm, non-research settings, in order to provide actionable guidance to crop and livestock producers interested in maintaining both productivity and sustainability.
