S05 Pedology At the time when soil science programs are shrinking and/or disappearing at universities across North America and around the world, we are faced with raising concerns about our capability to provide enough food for the increasing world population and on-going soil degradation. In an attempt to address both the issue of declining enrolment and the changing learning needs of the students of the 21st century, some universities have re-organized their soil science curriculum, created new courses that focus on environmental issues, and/or created interdisciplinary soil science programs. Many are also introducing new educational approaches and learning technologies. The following topics will be covered: 1) An overview of current approaches in natural resources education 2) Emerging approaches in soil science education and examples of innovative methods and learning technologies 3) Students’ perspective on soil science education
