We used the Worldclim dataset of temperature and precipitation in future climate scenarios as input to the USDA Java Newhall Simulation Model to examine the impact of climate change on taxonomic determinations. The dataset was downscaled from NASA Goddard Institute of Space Studies Global Climate Model E and run for the four representative concentration pathways published in the 5th Assessment of the International Panel on Climate Change for the years 2050 and 2070. Results showed that changes at all taxonomic levels should be expected resulting in geographic shifts of soil moisture and temperature regimes. These new patterns will influence cropping and land-use.
