Soil Health and Organic: Lessons Learned.

The emphasis on soil health across federal and state agencies and farm organizations has provided countless producers, landowners and agricultural professionals with information about improving the health of their soil. In conveying soil health principles to organic producers and other professionals working with organic producers, several key lessons have arisen which can inform research, education and policy efforts. This presentation will discuss many of these topics including: challenges of implementing some principals in certain farming systems, viewing soil health principles as part of a spectrum, impacts of common organic farming practices, importance of peer to peer education and value of targeted outreach materials.
